This years’ event intends to bring forward the investment and business opportunities that exists in many markets of the Arab world which, in spite of the untoward world financial situation, have retained the development dynamism through the use of their solid underlying resources, the big infrastructure projects underway and a strong capital position. Given the fact that the presence of the Greek enterprises in the Arab world could be much larger and results to date belie their true potential. We consider that this vast dynamic region can provide an outlet to their extrovert entrepreneurial tradition, counterbalancing the current difficulties in the internal market. During the Forum, there will be targeted presentations of development sectors in Arab countries that present a special interest and potential for investment and expansion with a special emphasis on the Arab Gulf region, while in parallel specific projects of public and private investment, reconstruction and development throughout the Arab world will be promoted in detail. A major aim of the Forum will be to help attracting foreign investment from Arab enterprises seeking suitable opportunities in Greece as well as synergies with dynamic Greek companies within the larger region of Greek expertise and presence. The Invest in Med programme aims at developing sustainable trade relationships, investments and enterprise partnerships between the two rims of the Mediterranean. Funded at 75% by the European Union over the 2008-2011 period, it is implemented by the MedAlliance consortium, which associates economic development organisations (ANIMA, leader of the programme), CCIs (ASCAME, EUROCHAMBRES), and business federations (BUSINESSMED). The members of these networks, as well as their special partners (UNIDO, GTZ, EPA Euroméditerranée, World Bank, etc.), gather a thousand of economic actors - mobilised through pilot initiatives centered on key Mediterranean promising niches. Each year, a hundred operations associate the 27 countries of the European Union and 9 Mediterranean partner countries: Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestinian Authority, Syria and Tunisia. www.invest-in-med.eu
