Description : The first B2B in Morocco has been organised in Tétouan: 11 Italian companies were hosted in the Moroccan town on May 11th and 12th, they met local companies of the paper sector, and participated at the round table focused on sectoral vocational training. The experience sharing event in Morocco moved to Tanger for visiting the MED PAPER company, (producing and processing paper pulp for packaging) and continued in Casablanca where the Italian delegation visited the enterprise LINAPAP (processing, marketing and molding of paper and cartoon goods). Further trip brought the Italian managers to Mekhnès where they visited the enterprise SIPAT (production and processing of paper pulp for tissue). Abellatif Afailal, president of CCIS, said that this kind of initiatives pursue, first of all, the promotion of Tétouan in the international market while attracting investments. Tétouan, he added, despite it recently turned to services, has a strong historical background in the sector of paper industry as it was confirmed by the presence of Papelera, a huge company, known in the markets of the whole Continent, and lastly moved to Tanger with the name Med Paper. An overall of 200 b2bs were finalised within this operation; 11 Italian enterprises took part to the event in Tétouan and 13 in Casablanca; more than 50 Moroccan entrepreneurs had the opportunity to meet their European and Maghrebain colleagues. Even, Algeria, Tunisia and Syria have been well represented thanks to the full participation of paper sector enterprises, interested in developing business relationships with the northern Mediterranean countries but among themselves too. Entrepreneurs decided to meet in Lucca, on 11th and 12th October 2010, for the last operation of Paper Med project, concerning a b2b and a workshop focused on the environment issues in paper sector. Last operation will be organised in parallel with the International Fair MIAC.

The Invest in Med programme aims at developing sustainable trade relationships, investments and enterprise partnerships between the two rims of the Mediterranean. Funded at 75% by the European Union over the 2008-2011 period, it is implemented by the MedAlliance consortium, which associates economic development organisations (ANIMA, leader of the programme), CCIs (ASCAME, EUROCHAMBRES), and business federations (BUSINESSMED). The members of these networks, as well as their special partners (UNIDO, GTZ, EPA Euroméditerranée, World Bank, etc.), gather a thousand of economic actors - mobilised through pilot initiatives centered on key Mediterranean promising niches. Each year, a hundred operations associate the 27 countries of the European Union and 9 Mediterranean partner countries: Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestinian Authority, Syria and Tunisia. www.invest-in-med.eu
