Workshop

Algeria, Alger,
From 05-05-2010 to 05-05-2010

The Maghreb Network of Enterprises for the Environment (REME) hosted a workshop on May 5, 2010 9n Algiers with the support of Invest in Med. The workshop was organized as a side event of the international building exhibition "BATIMATEC" and  represented the second step of the said initiative led by CACI: Algerian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in partnership with the CGEM: General Confederation of Enterprises of Morocco and UTICA: Tunisian Union of Industry, Commerce and Handicrafts.
The event consisted of a workshop on insulation materials targeting architects & engineers, academics, technical centers and professionals of the thermal insulation of the building.
Hosted by European experts, the workshop's goal was to increase knowledge and enhance the expertise previously gained in the field of thermal insulation. Particular attention was paid to practical aspects of the use of insulation material but the workshop covered regulatory and economical aspects as well.

Participation extended to 15 European experts and 55 experts and institutions from the Maghreb including 35 in Algeria, 10 from Morocco and 10 from Tunisia.
The event was also an opportunity to connect on the Maghreb Guide of Thermal Insulation in Buildings, a manual produced by the REME through Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia still with the financial support of the European program Invest in Med. REME is currently financed by GTZ, the German Technical Cooperation. For more information please see http://www.reme.info/

The Invest in Med programme aims at developing sustainable trade relationships, investments and enterprise partnerships between the two rims of the Mediterranean. Funded at 75% by the European Union over the 2008-2011 period, it is implemented by the MedAlliance consortium, which associates economic development organisations (ANIMA, leader of the programme), CCIs (ASCAME, EUROCHAMBRES), and business federations (BUSINESSMED). The members of these networks, as well as their special partners (UNIDO, GTZ, EPA Euroméditerranée, World Bank, etc.), gather a thousand of economic actors - mobilised through pilot initiatives centered on key Mediterranean promising niches. Each year, a hundred operations associate the 27 countries of the European Union and 9 Mediterranean partner countries: Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestinian Authority, Syria and Tunisia. www.invest-in-med.eu
