In Med Training Forum Maghreb

Operation supported by Invest in Med

Technical courses on BSO management

Morocco, Casablanca,
From 06-29-2009 to 06-30-2009

EUROCHAMBRES will organise in Casablanca the first capacity building seminar for Maghrebian economic development organisations, giving concrete advice on how to address problems identified during the previously conducted audits. The whole initiative includes detailed assessments of the performance of the organisations, seminars on how to address possible weaknesses and networking opportunities. This operation is organised within the framework of the In Med Training Forum, an initiative aiming at upgrading Southern Mediterranean business representative organisations (BROs).

Objectives:
- Identify and address weaknesses of BROs in the Maghreb
- Enable regional and EU actors to meet in order to establish partnerships, initiatives and cooperation.
- Exchange best practices between European and Mediterranean ICC managers.

Results:
The seminar enabled the participants (a dozen representatives of Mediterranean Chambers of Commerce) to benefit from the experience of other chambers of commerce in various fields such as finding resources, managing a team, having a relevant communication policy, or producing services for members.
Most participants were very pleased with the seminar, finding concrete solutions to solve their problems. Many participants emphasised the quality of interventions and speakers, and showed their willingness to share and apply lessons taught in the seminar.

Program (Previsional)

The Invest in Med programme aims at developing sustainable trade relationships, investments and enterprise partnerships between the two rims of the Mediterranean. Funded at 75% by the European Union over the 2008-2011 period, it is implemented by the MedAlliance consortium, which associates economic development organisations (ANIMA, leader of the programme), CCIs (ASCAME, EUROCHAMBRES), and business federations (BUSINESSMED). The members of these networks, as well as their special partners (UNIDO, GTZ, EPA Euroméditerranée, World Bank, etc.), gather a thousand of economic actors - mobilised through pilot initiatives centered on key Mediterranean promising niches. Each year, a hundred operations associate the 27 countries of the European Union and 9 Mediterranean partner countries: Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestinian Authority, Syria and Tunisia. www.invest-in-med.eu
