Med-Tracking - Workshop for end-users: what a need and what an expectation for the Med-Tracking system from the freight transport actors?

Operation supported by Invest in Med

Workshop

Morocco, Marrakech (25-26/05), Marseille, Tunis, Rome, Naples, Istanbul, Barcelone, Coimbra, Thessalonique,..,,
From 05-25-2009 to 10-15-2009

A first workshop was held in Marrakech. It follows the salon Tanger held the previous week. Each workshop has laid the critical issues to the success of the initiative Med-Tracking: What are the specific needs of actors and complete end, what is the state of the art and what solutions should we implement for the improved safety of transport in the Mediterranean by the year 2010-2013?

Each thematic workshop was organized for the benefit of users and aimed to identify the opportunity and the outlines of a new service offering related to the monitoring of containers throughout the supply chain (sea, rail, road, ...) loading starting to unload the container at the delivery point. He discussed topics related to the economy of transport in the Mediterranean with exchanges of views, feedback around the fields to use the Tracking and finalized the list of actors potentially affected transport in the Mediterranean (sea, rail road, ship owners, shipping companies using, insurance, transport organizers - import / export, freight forwarders, logistics companies, port authorities, regulators ...).

The Invest in Med programme aims at developing sustainable trade relationships, investments and enterprise partnerships between the two rims of the Mediterranean. Funded at 75% by the European Union over the 2008-2011 period, it is implemented by the MedAlliance consortium, which associates economic development organisations (ANIMA, leader of the programme), CCIs (ASCAME, EUROCHAMBRES), and business federations (BUSINESSMED). The members of these networks, as well as their special partners (UNIDO, GTZ, EPA Euroméditerranée, World Bank, etc.), gather a thousand of economic actors - mobilised through pilot initiatives centered on key Mediterranean promising niches. Each year, a hundred operations associate the 27 countries of the European Union and 9 Mediterranean partner countries: Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestinian Authority, Syria and Tunisia. www.invest-in-med.eu
