Operation supported by Invest in Med

Technical assistance missions

Tunisia, Tunis,
From 07-05-2009 to 02-05-2010

The Technical Assistance Mission held from 5/7/2009 to 5/2/2010 in Tunis, Marseille, Barcelone and Tunisia focused on the creation of a Mediterranean Institute for International trade. On the initiative of the ASCAME and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Tunis, a feasibility study was carried out for the creation of a training organisation for Mediterranean CCIs. The report of phase 1 of the study was the results of the first phase of diagnosis, which identified needs for training for the network of ASCAME, and suggests various scenarios being able to be implemented to meet these needs. This mission aimed to:
- Assess the opportunity of the project by examining its benefits for the operators and economic organisations of the area (EU and the Mediterranean) and comparing with the existing training institutes.
- Evaluate the added value of the project and its interest for the operators of the European Union and the partners of Med Invest.

The Invest in Med programme aims at developing sustainable trade relationships, investments and enterprise partnerships between the two rims of the Mediterranean. Funded at 75% by the European Union over the 2008-2011 period, it is implemented by the MedAlliance consortium, which associates economic development organisations (ANIMA, leader of the programme), CCIs (ASCAME, EUROCHAMBRES), and business federations (BUSINESSMED). The members of these networks, as well as their special partners (UNIDO, GTZ, EPA Euroméditerranée, World Bank, etc.), gather a thousand of economic actors - mobilised through pilot initiatives centered on key Mediterranean promising niches. Each year, a hundred operations associate the 27 countries of the European Union and 9 Mediterranean partner countries: Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestinian Authority, Syria and Tunisia. www.invest-in-med.eu
