Workshop

Egypt, Le Caire et Alexandrie,
From 10-27-2009 to 03-30-2011

Between November 2009 and March 2011, 20 monthly meeting have taken place, both in Alexandria and Cairo. During these sessions, 45 SME managers were invited to discuss, in all confidentially, various aspects of their business, trying to find solutions to their problems and exchange experiences - under the guidance of multinational representative and other SME managers. The benefits of Plato monthly sessions have therefore been threefold: they have encouraged a peer-to-peer exchange of experience between SMEs managers, and facilitated the creation of connections with major group representatives –most of the time difficult to access.  They have finally generated potential business deals.

A team building session gathering the 6 mentors and the 45 SMEs has been  be previously organised in Egypt from October 27 to 28, 2009.  During this team building participants learned to know each other and decided on the topics to be discussed during the monthly meetings.

Programme of the teambuilding session (27-28 Octobre 2009) (Previsional)

The Invest in Med programme aims at developing sustainable trade relationships, investments and enterprise partnerships between the two rims of the Mediterranean. Funded at 75% by the European Union over the 2008-2011 period, it is implemented by the MedAlliance consortium, which associates economic development organisations (ANIMA, leader of the programme), CCIs (ASCAME, EUROCHAMBRES), and business federations (BUSINESSMED). The members of these networks, as well as their special partners (UNIDO, GTZ, EPA Euroméditerranée, World Bank, etc.), gather a thousand of economic actors - mobilised through pilot initiatives centered on key Mediterranean promising niches. Each year, a hundred operations associate the 27 countries of the European Union and 9 Mediterranean partner countries: Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestinian Authority, Syria and Tunisia. www.invest-in-med.eu
