The operation 3 was realised by TEXTECHMed (www.textechmed.eu) consortium in 2 steps. The first and main part of this operation – the BtoB session, took place the 8th October 2009 in Marseille (France). This first session of professional meetings was associated to the Mediterranean economic week (www.semaine-eco-med.com) and annual events of the Cité Euro-méditerranéenne de la Mode. The TEXTECHMed partners were able to attract the key Euromed actors of the Textile for technical applications to participate in the workshop and set up at least 200 multi-actor meetings: · Business to Business (Sartex, Intis, Workman, Printemps, Starcuir, Timotex, Blantex, Platre ch-cale, Rhodia, Soofileta, Enveho, Suppleo, etc. ), · Research to Business (ENSAIT, ESITH, Ecole nationale d’ingenieures en Tinisie, Université de Monastir, Technopole & CCI Castres-Masamet, Techtera, UpTex, Clubtex, CETTEX,etc ) · Investors to Business (BA Euromed, FIPA, Rhodia, TEXnet, etc.) In addition to meetings held in Marseille, a few companies and Euro-Med actors had an opportunity to visit TechnoParks, industrial zones, research and technical centers, schools and universities specializing in technical textiles in Tunisia in March 2010. These visits allowed to technical textile actors see some special and particular equipment and envisage some common collaborative projects particularly between Tunisian and Morocco R&D organisations. The institutional partners of Tunisia (MFC pole), ENSAIT (Lille, France), ESITH (Morocco) have agreed to the development and implementation of a common support initiative for R & D on the barrier effect of technical textiles. Following the meeting in Marseille and Tunis, the partners were able to formalize the idea of the project, built a consortium, identified financial lines and submit a joint project for EU funding. Moreover the professional visit in Tunis (March 2010) was an opportunity to introduce the Mashreq technical textile companies (Egypt, Jordan, Syria) and business support organizations in to TEXTECHMed activities. This meeting initiated cooperation between agencies of the Maghreb and Mashreq: CETTEX, MFC Pole (Tunisia) and CCI Aleppo (Syria), Technical Centre of Cairo (Egypt), and ESITH -AMITH (Morocco), etc. Currently the partners are considering the establishment of a joint program to raise awareness of technical applications of textile for traditional companies. The Invest in Med programme aims at developing sustainable trade relationships, investments and enterprise partnerships between the two rims of the Mediterranean. Funded at 75% by the European Union over the 2008-2011 period, it is implemented by the MedAlliance consortium, which associates economic development organisations (ANIMA, leader of the programme), CCIs (ASCAME, EUROCHAMBRES), and business federations (BUSINESSMED). The members of these networks, as well as their special partners (UNIDO, GTZ, EPA Euroméditerranée, World Bank, etc.), gather a thousand of economic actors - mobilised through pilot initiatives centered on key Mediterranean promising niches. Each year, a hundred operations associate the 27 countries of the European Union and 9 Mediterranean partner countries: Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestinian Authority, Syria and Tunisia. www.invest-in-med.eu
