BtoB meetings for SMEs

France, Montpellier,
From 12-01-2010 to 12-02-2010

The first meeting concerning the program PACEIM, Program for Creating Innovative Enterprises in the Mediterranean region, that was developed this year by the institute of Research for Development (IRD), took place on 1st and 2nd December in the centre of IRD Southern-France in Montpellier. It was the opportunity for the 28 selected candidates (students, researchers, engineers) between master and post-doctorate levels, who responded to a call for proposals in May 2010, to present their project in front of twenty or so institutional and financial actors of the entrepreneurship of Morocco, Tunisia and Algeria. After the presentation 6 prize-winners were identified and will be presented with a business trip in the country chosen for locating their business. 9 other candidates were selected on a complementary list and will have access to personalised advice to enable them to start off their project. This first meeting of PACEIM ended with a day reserved to the partners of the Program, the object of which was to prepare its implementation for the period 2011-2014.

Program (Previsional)

The Invest in Med programme aims at developing sustainable trade relationships, investments and enterprise partnerships between the two rims of the Mediterranean. Funded at 75% by the European Union over the 2008-2011 period, it is implemented by the MedAlliance consortium, which associates economic development organisations (ANIMA, leader of the programme), CCIs (ASCAME, EUROCHAMBRES), and business federations (BUSINESSMED). The members of these networks, as well as their special partners (UNIDO, GTZ, EPA Euroméditerranée, World Bank, etc.), gather a thousand of economic actors - mobilised through pilot initiatives centered on key Mediterranean promising niches. Each year, a hundred operations associate the 27 countries of the European Union and 9 Mediterranean partner countries: Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestinian Authority, Syria and Tunisia. www.invest-in-med.eu
