Tech Fruits & Vegetables- Euromediterranean business meetings
The Tech Fruits & Vegetables - Euromediterranean business meetings that took place in Avignon on December 7th and 8th, 2009 have offered the opportunity to professionals of the fresh and transformed Fruits and Vegetable sector to develop new perspectives in terms of technological and commercial innovation. The event gathered more a hundred of professionals from 9 different Euro-Mediterranean countries: 450 business meetings have been planned and two round tables organised on the issues of innovative packaging and processes. The collaboration between the cluster of Avignon and Bizerte has been officialised during the event by the signature of a cooperation agreement Considering the success of these meetings, the partners have planned to sustain the event and to organised an annual Fruits and Vegetable meeting. The Invest in Med programme aims at developing sustainable trade relationships, investments and enterprise partnerships between the two rims of the Mediterranean. Funded at 75% by the European Union over the 2008-2011 period, it is implemented by the MedAlliance consortium, which associates economic development organisations (ANIMA, leader of the programme), CCIs (ASCAME, EUROCHAMBRES), and business federations (BUSINESSMED). The members of these networks, as well as their special partners (UNIDO, GTZ, EPA Euroméditerranée, World Bank, etc.), gather a thousand of economic actors - mobilised through pilot initiatives centered on key Mediterranean promising niches. Each year, a hundred operations associate the 27 countries of the European Union and 9 Mediterranean partner countries: Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestinian Authority, Syria and Tunisia.
