The Missions of Med Partners (GAFI and CC Tunis) to EU Countries were the opportunity to realize how European ports logistics services are managed in these port areas. In order to promote the cooperation SOUTH-SOUTH, a mission had been organized from Cairo to Tunis (CEEBA). The short term missions planned in the same period as Operation 1 "Action Plan for Clustering in MED Port Logistics" (April-July 2010, 3 days per mission), in order to enhance the level of the experiences sharing among partners and EU experts. The missions enforced the activity for the developing of the Action Plan for the development of clusters of SMEs operating in port logistics in the port areas of Tunis-Rades, Tn; Tangier, Ma; Port Said, Eg. The missions paved the way for the subsequent activities. The missions consist as follow: - From Tunis (CC Tunis) to Cagliari (CSPI) - From Tunis (CC Tunis) to an associated partner (to be selected) - From Cairo (GAFI) to Cagliari (CSPI) - From Cairo (GAFI) to an associated partner (to be selected) - From Cairo (CEEBA) to Tunis (CC Tunis) Beneficiaries : Direct beneficiaries of the missions are the representatives of Chamber of Commerce of Tunis, GAFI - General Authority for Investment Egypt and CEEBA. At the same time, from the exchange of experiences and the meetings with local SMEs, indirect beneficiaries are also European partners (CSPI Chamber of Commerce of Cagliari and an associated partner to be selected) and participating SMEs. Number of participants (UE): 0 Number of participants (Med): 5 Expected result : - 5 representatives of Med partner organizations informed about European practices and methods of management of port logistics services - 5 Reports regarding the results of the short term missions (support in planning of the Strategic Working Plan) - 50 SMEs operating in the Ports of Cagliari, Tunis and of the other EU Associated Partner informed about the MED PORTS initiative and of the involvement of Med partners - Companies participated to business meetings Partners

The Invest in Med programme aims at developing sustainable trade relationships, investments and enterprise partnerships between the two rims of the Mediterranean. Funded at 75% by the European Union over the 2008-2011 period, it is implemented by the MedAlliance consortium, which associates economic development organisations (ANIMA, leader of the programme), CCIs (ASCAME, EUROCHAMBRES), and business federations (BUSINESSMED). The members of these networks, as well as their special partners (UNIDO, GTZ, EPA Euroméditerranée, World Bank, etc.), gather a thousand of economic actors - mobilised through pilot initiatives centered on key Mediterranean promising niches. Each year, a hundred operations associate the 27 countries of the European Union and 9 Mediterranean partner countries: Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestinian Authority, Syria and Tunisia. www.invest-in-med.eu
