Water and soil utilization solutions as an answer to the massive increase in global population and in demand for fresh food from plants and livestock, are to be presented by hundreds of firms from around the world at the "Agro-Mashov 2011" the central meeting point of agriculture in Europe, Asia and Africa.
Israel's unique geographic location provides an ideal rendezvous point for guests from all over the world. The central platform offered by the current "Agro-Mashov" exhibition would bring together approximately twenty thousand guests, from 50 different states, arriving in their quest for agricultural technologies that may solve the problem of shortage in water, food and land, the world faces today.
The geographical location provides a golden opportunity for farmers and members of the agro-business manufacture and trade community to present their products and services from initial growth to final sale. The Invest in Med programme aims at developing sustainable trade relationships, investments and enterprise partnerships between the two rims of the Mediterranean. Funded at 75% by the European Union over the 2008-2011 period, it is implemented by the MedAlliance consortium, which associates economic development organisations (ANIMA, leader of the programme), CCIs (ASCAME, EUROCHAMBRES), and business federations (BUSINESSMED). The members of these networks, as well as their special partners (UNIDO, GTZ, EPA Euroméditerranée, World Bank, etc.), gather a thousand of economic actors - mobilised through pilot initiatives centered on key Mediterranean promising niches. Each year, a hundred operations associate the 27 countries of the European Union and 9 Mediterranean partner countries: Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestinian Authority, Syria and Tunisia. www.invest-in-med.eu
