B2B meetings in Algeria in the paper industry

Paper Med project has been publicly exposed in October 2009, on the occasion of MIAC, the international fair of paper industry. Project partners had the occasion to visit the fair, which host leader enterprises in the sector, highly qualified and innovative, and a sector leader enterprise  of Lucca, the Fabio Perini spa. All that has been useful to meet partner with enterprises interested in participating in b2b in Algiers, foreseen by the project, and to allow them to better know local entrepreneurial  system.

To the b2b meetings in Algiers, foreseen within Paper Med project, took part more than 80 entrepreneurs coming from Algiers, Tunisia, Morocco and Italy. The event gave rise to more than 300 b2bs, with an average of 4 significant meetings for each enterprise.

The event has been officially open by attended institutions: Italian Ambassador in Algiers, Mr. Giampaolo Cantini, ICE Algiers Director, Mr. Samuele Porsia, and the President of CGEA, Mr. Yousfi Habib. The responsible of the project, Ms Valeria Giusti, has been showed the Invest in Med Programme and main project objectives.

Later on, has been held a press conference where attended 9 local newspapers and some Algerians televisions. 21 articles have been published on Algerian newspapers and 5 on Italian newspapers. Numerous have been interviews to managers of the project to show its contents.

After the press conference, b2bs have been started and, in parallel with them, has been organised a round table concerning the qualification of human resources animated by the partner CODIFOR.

20 participants have been attended to the round table, comparing their experiences. The representative of ANDI had been described the specificity of the country at foreign investments level and the President of CGEA, together with the General Secretary of CGEA have been introduced the experience of the organisation on vocational training issue.

The Invest in Med programme aims at developing sustainable trade relationships, investments and enterprise partnerships between the two rims of the Mediterranean. Funded at 75% by the European Union over the 2008-2011 period, it is implemented by the MedAlliance consortium, which associates economic development organisations (ANIMA, leader of the programme), CCIs (ASCAME, EUROCHAMBRES), and business federations (BUSINESSMED). The members of these networks, as well as their special partners (UNIDO, GTZ, EPA Euroméditerranée, World Bank, etc.), gather a thousand of economic actors - mobilised through pilot initiatives centered on key Mediterranean promising niches. Each year, a hundred operations associate the 27 countries of the European Union and 9 Mediterranean partner countries: Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestinian Authority, Syria and Tunisia. www.invest-in-med.eu
