BtoB meetings for SMEs

Algeria, Alger,
From 05-06-2010 to 05-06-2010

A B2B meeting between producers and economic operators of the construction industry was organized in the course of the international exhibition BATIMATEC, in Algiers on May 6, 2010 on the topic of insulating materials. This event was held in the exhibition center of Algiers and represents step 3 of the initiative of the Maghreb Network of Enterprises for the Environment (REME) through the Invest in Med program on insulation materials. The event was attended by 17 European and 63 companies from the Maghreb, 33 of them coming from Algeria, 20 from Morocco and 11 from Tunisia.
The B2B has enabled companies of the three Maghreb countries to conduct trade as well as technical exchanges, and even consider partnerships like 'joint ventures' with their European counterparts. Technology transfers, innovation and capacity building were also topics on the menu and have been reported by companies participating in their feedback. It should be noted that the overall satisfaction rate, based on the evaluation forms was 96% for this operation. REME is currently financed by GTZ, the German Technical Cooperation. The Invest in Med programme aims at developing sustainable trade relationships, investments and enterprise partnerships between the two rims of the Mediterranean. Funded at 75% by the European Union over the 2008-2011 period, it is implemented by the MedAlliance consortium, which associates economic development organisations (ANIMA, leader of the programme), CCIs (ASCAME, EUROCHAMBRES), and business federations (BUSINESSMED). The members of these networks, as well as their special partners (UNIDO, GTZ, EPA Euroméditerranée, World Bank, etc.), gather a thousand of economic actors - mobilised through pilot initiatives centered on key Mediterranean promising niches. Each year, a hundred operations associate the 27 countries of the European Union and 9 Mediterranean partner countries: Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestinian Authority, Syria and Tunisia. www.invest-in-med.eu
