GulfInvest 2009 will take place at the Mohamed VI International Conference Palace in Skhirat, Morocco on 19-20 November 2009. The major theme of this second edition of GulfInvest will be 'The impact of the World's Financial Crisis on the Economies of the GCC and Morocco: lessons for the future'. GulflfInvest 2009 aims to attract major players from the private and public sectors of Gulf countries, and offer them an opportunity to network and interact with key decision-makers from Moroccan private and public sector industrial groups, financial institutions, and government entities. There will also be sector-focused workshops (food industry, new technology, transportation, real estate, services, and energy and mining sectors). Exhibition booths will be reserved for companies from Morocco and the Arab Gulf. GulfInvest is a private initiative launched by businessmen from Morocco and Gulf countries. The Invest in Med programme aims at developing sustainable trade relationships, investments and enterprise partnerships between the two rims of the Mediterranean. Funded at 75% by the European Union over the 2008-2011 period, it is implemented by the MedAlliance consortium, which associates economic development organisations (ANIMA, leader of the programme), CCIs (ASCAME, EUROCHAMBRES), and business federations (BUSINESSMED). The members of these networks, as well as their special partners (UNIDO, GTZ, EPA Euroméditerranée, World Bank, etc.), gather a thousand of economic actors - mobilised through pilot initiatives centered on key Mediterranean promising niches. Each year, a hundred operations associate the 27 countries of the European Union and 9 Mediterranean partner countries: Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestinian Authority, Syria and Tunisia. www.invest-in-med.eu
