Individual staff exchange: Participation in EUROCHAMBRES Summer Academy 2009

Operation supported by Invest in Med

Short term individual staff exchange

Portugal, Obidos,
From 06-15-2009 to 06-19-2009

The Summer Academy is a practice-based course specifically designed for chamber executives and directors. The programme addresses the challenges and problems chamber executives encounter in all countries. Mediterranean participants were given the possibility to strengthen their links with European chamber colleagues and to benchmark their activities and views with the European ones.

Objectives
- Facilitating the access of Med chamber managers to high quality chamber specific training course presenting the latest trends and tools for successful chamber management
- Extensive benchmarking with colleagues from all over Europe and beyond
- Networking opportunities with peers from many different chambers
- Raise awareness about Mediterranean chambers among European participants and reduce stereotypes through direct contact with Med chamber colleagues

Results
Despite a decrease in the number of Mediterranean participants, the feedbacks from both the Trade and the Summer Academy were positive. As a result EUROCHAMBRES deeply encourage the participation of Mediterranean chamber managers in the upcoming Academies.

The Invest in Med programme aims at developing sustainable trade relationships, investments and enterprise partnerships between the two rims of the Mediterranean. Funded at 75% by the European Union over the 2008-2011 period, it is implemented by the MedAlliance consortium, which associates economic development organisations (ANIMA, leader of the programme), CCIs (ASCAME, EUROCHAMBRES), and business federations (BUSINESSMED). The members of these networks, as well as their special partners (UNIDO, GTZ, EPA Euroméditerranée, World Bank, etc.), gather a thousand of economic actors - mobilised through pilot initiatives centered on key Mediterranean promising niches. Each year, a hundred operations associate the 27 countries of the European Union and 9 Mediterranean partner countries: Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestinian Authority, Syria and Tunisia. www.invest-in-med.eu
