Italy Building bridges between CGEM and Cofindustria

Short term individual staff exchange

This exchange in the short term, was provided by Ms. Benharbet Fatima-Zahra, Secretary General of the CGEM to Confindustria, in order to gain an overview of the operation, services delivered and the challenges to develop a close working with its counterpart in the north.
During his mission Ms. Benharbbet met the main actors of Confindustria. These individual meetings were an opportunity for the Executive Director of the CGEM to develop the objectives pursued during the three operations under the initiative in Med Business services:
- Provide recommendations for the introduction of new services within the CGEM
- The start of a consortium working with counterparts at the Confindustria
- Identification of training, expertise, skills available and reproducible within the CGEM
- Personal knowledge of officials in the departments concerned by potential partnerships CGEM / Confindustria, "bridgehead" to build long-term partnership

The Invest in Med programme aims at developing sustainable trade relationships, investments and enterprise partnerships between the two rims of the Mediterranean. Funded at 75% by the European Union over the 2008-2011 period, it is implemented by the MedAlliance consortium, which associates economic development organisations (ANIMA, leader of the programme), CCIs (ASCAME, EUROCHAMBRES), and business federations (BUSINESSMED). The members of these networks, as well as their special partners (UNIDO, GTZ, EPA Euroméditerranée, World Bank, etc.), gather a thousand of economic actors - mobilised through pilot initiatives centered on key Mediterranean promising niches. Each year, a hundred operations associate the 27 countries of the European Union and 9 Mediterranean partner countries: Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestinian Authority, Syria and Tunisia. www.invest-in-med.eu
