Carried out in close cordination with Algerian (CGEA and CCI El Hidhab), Tunisian (UTICA) and German organisations (BDA; vbw and bbw), this second operation of the “Made in Euromed” initiative gave the opportunity to a delegation of German entrepreneurs to participate in the International Fair of Algiers from May 30 to June 4, 2009. It therefore allowed 25 German businessmen from various sectors of activity (industry metallurgical, medical, pharmaceutical, construction industry) to meet with Maghreban counterparts. The delegation also included representatives from German Business federations. Individual B2B between German, Tunisian and Algerian enterprises were the main objective of this operation: from the very beginning, individual meetings were organised in the framework of the International Fair of Algiers. In order to be able to offer to each participating company the maximum number of meetings, another day of gathering was organised on June the 1st in the Mazafran hotel. More than 80 participants were invited. In parallel to these meetings, information sessions provided the opportunity to german companies to learn more about the Maghreban economic context. Interesting contacts and results have emerged from these meetings: - The majority of the participants have expressed their will to further develop economic activities in the Maghreb. Some are prepared has to sign partnership agreements with Magreban counterparts. - This operation provided a platform of exchanges for more than 80 participants of two banks of the Mediterranean (enterprises but also representatives of the press, investment promotion agencies, CCIs, Business federations as well as ministries). - Finally, the signature of the protocol agreement between the General Confederation of Algerian Companies (CGEA) and the Confederation of Bavarian Employers (vbw) shows that the `Made in Euromed” initiative is providing a framework for a reinforced co-operation between Germany and the Maghreb.
