Nearly 5,000 visitors attended the 2009 Med IT Algiers. This workshop was organised under the high patronage of Mr. Bessalah Hamid, Minister of Post, Information Technology and Communications. The sixth edition of Med-IT was also supported by French Ministry of Foreign Trade and the European Programme INVEST IN MED. This event was attended by 150 exhibitors in the field of ICT, with the presence of a new pavilion dedicated to call centers, and a Tunisian and Moroccan flags. The show which was held over three days hosted 4,932 visitors.
The official opening of the Exhibition was held Monday, May 18th at 9:30 in the presence of His Excellency Hamid Bessalah, Minister of Post, Information Technologies and Communication, and His Excellency Mr. El Hachemi Djaaboub, Minister of Trade.
Split between the Auditorium and the capital installed in the patio workshops, lectures experts, round tables and workshops covered a wide range of issues around ICT. The program has attracted much interest from an audience. Main panels: the development of infrastructure networks to very high speeds, the financing of innovation and start-up, e-government, e-commerce, and Offshoring Call Centers, training and ICT skills.

The Invest in Med programme aims at developing sustainable trade relationships, investments and enterprise partnerships between the two rims of the Mediterranean. Funded at 75% by the European Union over the 2008-2011 period, it is implemented by the MedAlliance consortium, which associates economic development organisations (ANIMA, leader of the programme), CCIs (ASCAME, EUROCHAMBRES), and business federations (BUSINESSMED). The members of these networks, as well as their special partners (UNIDO, GTZ, EPA Euroméditerranée, World Bank, etc.), gather a thousand of economic actors - mobilised through pilot initiatives centered on key Mediterranean promising niches. Each year, a hundred operations associate the 27 countries of the European Union and 9 Mediterranean partner countries: Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestinian Authority, Syria and Tunisia. www.invest-in-med.eu
