This kick-off workshop will focus on the definition of the operational, political and strategic management of the Med-Tracking Initiative: It will bring the consortium members together so to define the project main tasks and milestones, organise working groups and validate an overall project plan from January to December 2009.
During the workshop key actors and stakeholders (end-users, clusters key, poles of competitiveness.) of the Euro-Mediterranean zone -and which can be involved in the Med-Tracking initiative- will be selected.
This workshop will define the bases of the Med-Tracking initiative and proposes a first cartography of its fields of use in order to build up this new service applied to the security and the improvement of the transport of freight in the Mediterranean.
The total objective is that the Mediterranean appears as a world reference for the freight transport sector.

The Invest in Med programme aims at developing sustainable trade relationships, investments and enterprise partnerships between the two rims of the Mediterranean. Funded at 75% by the European Union over the 2008-2011 period, it is implemented by the MedAlliance consortium, which associates economic development organisations (ANIMA, leader of the programme), CCIs (ASCAME, EUROCHAMBRES), and business federations (BUSINESSMED). The members of these networks, as well as their special partners (UNIDO, GTZ, EPA Euroméditerranée, World Bank, etc.), gather a thousand of economic actors - mobilised through pilot initiatives centered on key Mediterranean promising niches. Each year, a hundred operations associate the 27 countries of the European Union and 9 Mediterranean partner countries: Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestinian Authority, Syria and Tunisia. www.invest-in-med.eu
