Business meetings were held as part of the Med-Industrial Partnership initiative, led by ADECI in partnership with UNIDO. More than 200 projects (profile and provides business partnerships in Egypt, Morocco and Tunisia), were identified and evaluated by UNIDO experts based in the countries mentioned. They were invited to Marseille as representatives of the SMEs they had identified to discuss partnership opportunities with French companies. 18 French companies have identified interesting partners, and discussed further cooperatioon with UNIDO delegates. These appointments have lasted all day on November 21, 2008. The operation was considered a success by both the representatives of Mediterranean SMEs and the 18 participating French companies. On the 18 French companies involved in these appointments, 16 are already back in touch with Mediterranean SMEs. This represents 50 possible negotiations. Expectations of French SMEs and Mediterranean were distributed as follows: - 75% of companies were interested in an industrial partnerships - 25% of companies were interested in commercial projects win / win and production in the south. The Invest in Med programme aims at developing sustainable trade relationships, investments and enterprise partnerships between the two rims of the Mediterranean. Funded at 75% by the European Union over the 2008-2011 period, it is implemented by the MedAlliance consortium, which associates economic development organisations (ANIMA, leader of the programme), CCIs (ASCAME, EUROCHAMBRES), and business federations (BUSINESSMED). The members of these networks, as well as their special partners (UNIDO, GTZ, EPA Euroméditerranée, World Bank, etc.), gather a thousand of economic actors - mobilised through pilot initiatives centered on key Mediterranean promising niches. Each year, a hundred operations associate the 27 countries of the European Union and 9 Mediterranean partner countries: Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestinian Authority, Syria and Tunisia. www.invest-in-med.eu
