Technical assistance missions

Germany, Munich, Berlin ,
From 02-08-2010 to 02-11-2010

The four day technical assistance mission addressing representatives of the Algerian employers´ organization Confédération Générale des Entreprises (CGEA) was held in Germany from 7 to 12 February. CGEA had chosen the work-study training system as the theme of this mission in order to benefit from the experience gathered in Germany and to get to know the structure and methods of this system with a view to persuading their enterprises to adopt the dual system for vocational training.

The technical assistance mission begins with an intensive discussion with the experts from the German employers’ organization in Berlin and with the presentation of the network “SCHULEWIRTSCHAFT” that enables long-term co-operations between schools and enterprises.

In order to get to know how to organize the dual training system within a company, the participants visited, after a theoretical introduction, the companies KraussMaffei AG, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of machinery for processing plastics, and LEONI AG, one of the world’s largest cable manufacturers with a branch in Tunisia. In the course of a lively exchange with chairmen, trainers as well as trainees, the participants had the opportunity to understand how the dual vocational training is organized in German companies and to see on site the success of this training system.

Through this mission CGEA is now well grounded in the field of vocational training and should be able to create an efficient infrastructure that facilitates the improvement of the training system through Algerian enterprises.

Programme (Previsional)

The Invest in Med programme aims at developing sustainable trade relationships, investments and enterprise partnerships between the two rims of the Mediterranean. Funded at 75% by the European Union over the 2008-2011 period, it is implemented by the MedAlliance consortium, which associates economic development organisations (ANIMA, leader of the programme), CCIs (ASCAME, EUROCHAMBRES), and business federations (BUSINESSMED). The members of these networks, as well as their special partners (UNIDO, GTZ, EPA Euroméditerranée, World Bank, etc.), gather a thousand of economic actors - mobilised through pilot initiatives centered on key Mediterranean promising niches. Each year, a hundred operations associate the 27 countries of the European Union and 9 Mediterranean partner countries: Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestinian Authority, Syria and Tunisia. www.invest-in-med.eu
