The Damascus regional conference, organized with the support of CODATU (Cooperation for Urban Mobility in the Developing World), will constitute the first meeting that will take place in April 11th -13th, 2010.
Four major subjects will be addressed namely:

• strategic framework,
• multimodal integration,
• urban structuring,
• social and environmental impacts. Each subject will be thoroughly considered in the frame of four specific workshops. These workshops will be held every semester running from the end of 2010 to the beginning of 2012. A regional conference of assessment and stocktaking will be held during the last semester of 2012. Meeting places will be elected in turn on South and North of the Mediterranean Region.

Main goals: The aim of this meeting cycle is to bring about a Mediterranean sense of ownership based on good practices as far as sustainable urban transport is concerned. It will contribute to strengthen the Mediterranean skill network in the field, to develop partnerships and to nurture a concrete methodological toolbox tailored for Mediterranean cities.
