This operation uncovered the potential of commercial Photovoltaic applications and demonstrating the feasibility of utilising PV systems for non-public purposes. It is through this operation that a professional study on the potential of other PV applications was conceived as a preliminary market study to approach the potential that Palestine country has regarding the dévelopment of photovoltaic projetcts that could attract EU private investment. Thus, study analyses both the technical and economical current PV energy situation of Palestine, comparing the Palestinian current situation to neighbouring countries, in order to give a benchmarkable vision of the sector in palestine compared to other countries from the region. In addition to that a SWOT analysis has been prepared to properly assess the Palestinian PV sector. As concerning data collection methodology, primary sources have been approach through an emailed questionnaire and direct interviews with selected key players. The Palestinian partners found through this Technical Assistance, the needed support to determine specific needs for future action and the needed guidance to put in place pertinent instruments for PV development.

The Invest in Med programme aims at developing sustainable trade relationships, investments and enterprise partnerships between the two rims of the Mediterranean. Funded at 75% by the European Union over the 2008-2011 period, it is implemented by the MedAlliance consortium, which associates economic development organisations (ANIMA, leader of the programme), CCIs (ASCAME, EUROCHAMBRES), and business federations (BUSINESSMED). The members of these networks, as well as their special partners (UNIDO, GTZ, EPA Euroméditerranée, World Bank, etc.), gather a thousand of economic actors - mobilised through pilot initiatives centered on key Mediterranean promising niches. Each year, a hundred operations associate the 27 countries of the European Union and 9 Mediterranean partner countries: Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestinian Authority, Syria and Tunisia. www.invest-in-med.eu
