11 leaders of initiatives contributing to the economic development of the Mediterranean countries will present their projects during a public session organised on March 2 and 3 in Marseille (France). The Invest in Med team will take this opportunity to present a toolkit to help economic players to make decision regarding investment, partnerships and business development in the Mediterranean.

 The eleven new initiatives selected in the framework of the EU-funded project Invest in Med (1) involve more than 50 business and economic development organisations from seven European and nine Mediterranean countries. These initiatives are all contributing to raise the attractiveness of the Mediterranean region by developing expertise areas and concrete partnerships between Euro-Mediterranean enterprises. Strategic sectors such as solar energy, e-commerce and logistics are targeted.
This workshop will provide an occasion to discuss the cooperation projects of the participating organisations and to create synergies between organisations of the two rims of the Mediterranean.
Since October 2008 and including this last selection, the programme comprises 49 projects. At this stage, more than 150 partners of the MedAlliance (2) networks are involved in more than 200 operations. About 6,000 BtoB meetings have been organised and 800 Euro-Med smart partnerships established (industrial cooperation, commercial agreement or financial partnerships).
Invest in Med also allowed the 400 members of MedAlliance, relay towards more than 40 million companies, to develop their expertise, to mutualise their resources and to build regional business networks. A toolkit is available for players and actors interested in the economic development of the Mediterranean area and the companies wishing to develop their business in the region.
They aim to:
•     Inform the economic actors (enterprises, business support organisations, administrations, institutional   actors) on the business activities in the countries of the Mediterranean (investments, partnerships, etc.);
•    Inform these actors on the business climate (news, public policies in favor of the investment, infrastructures, opportunities, events);
•    Allow these actors to meet to develop joint projects and partnerships at the time of events or on a dedicated Internet site.
MIPO (Mediterranean Investments and Partnerships Observatory) is a unique instrument which gives an instantaneous photograph of business climate in the Mediterranean. It contains approximately 5,000 projects of FDI (Foreign Direct Investments) or partnerships (JV, franchising, technological or commercial partnerships, representative offices, etc).
Agenda Med, the Mediterranean business events calendar is a free and unique tool to be aware of, plan and promote business events in the Mediterranean.
Link in Med, the first on line Euro-Med business community, facilitates the contacts between European and Mediterranean enterprises. Soon to be on line, the Mediterranean Economic Atlas, geo-localised information system, allows to visualise and position the zones of activities, innovation poles, main infrastructures and utilities for the companies and networks in Southern Mediterranean countries, as well as the FDI included in the MIPO data base.

About ten sectoral studies and guides are also available.
In order to know more about these initiatives and to meet with their organisers, the Invest in Med team invites you to attend the presentations and debates on Thuesday, March 2nd, 2010, at Euromed Management premises, Les Docks, Atrium 10.3, Place d ela Joliette, Marseille.

The Invest in Med programme aims at developing sustainable trade relationships, investments and enterprise partnerships between the two rims of the Mediterranean. Funded at 75% by the European Union over the 2008-2011 period, it is implemented by the MedAlliance consortium, which associates economic development organisations (ANIMA, leader of the programme), CCIs (ASCAME, EUROCHAMBRES), and business federations (BUSINESSMED). The members of these networks, as well as their special partners (UNIDO, GTZ, EPA Euroméditerranée, World Bank, etc.), gather a thousand of economic actors - mobilised through pilot initiatives centered on key Mediterranean promising niches. Each year, a hundred operations associate the 27 countries of the European Union and 9 Mediterranean partner countries: Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestinian Authority, Syria and Tunisia. www.invest-in-med.eu
