Procedures for submitting Invest in Med initiatives

Every 6 months, Invest in Med co-finances projects targeting priority strategic sectors, having a regional scope, proposing a concrete impact on the economic development of the Mediterranean.

The deadline set for the 3rd Invest in Med request for initiatives on November 18th, 2009 at midnight (GMT).

 

Who can participate?

Only the registered members of the MedAlliance networks can lead initiatives or operations in the framework of Invest in Med.

Many stakeholders can be patners of an initiative either member of the consortium, beneficiaries, experts or subcontractors. Initiative with plurality of actors will be appreciate in the evaluation of your initiative (please read below the criteria of selection).

What kind of initiative can you organise?

Invest in Med supports the initiatives of economic development in Mediterranean region. When evaluating your initiative, the Coordination Team will mainly consider the following aspects :
  • Multilateral (minimum two organisations of 9 Med countries and one from EU must be involved together)
  • Ambitious impact, with precise goals, expected results, sustainability and added value  (number of partnerships build, operations in South Med countries, etc)
  • Sectors targeted (read below)
  • Innovating in the field of the projects of economic development in Mediterranean area
  • Pratical approach to resolve problems identified by and with Mediterranean actors
  • Organised, precise methodology, using of different kind of operations proposed by the programme (BtoB, technical assistance, studies, etc)
  • Existence of a proven co-financing capacity and the cost efficiency of the initiative

How to submit your project?


  • Check out our guidelines book for a clear understanding of our priorities, selection criteria and to build your proposal
  • Use the proposed templates (Template 1 : project description form and template 6 : commitment letter) and budget  to prepare your application.
  • Find partners or join existing projects through our partners directory, or sharing your ideas with other members,
  • Submit your initiative online by using your extranet account or creating a new one . You will submit your poposal in a 4-step process with the possibility to save a draft proposal at any time. Copy the drafted elements of your project and attach the budget and scanned commitment letter.

What are the priority sectors?

The partners of the programme have set as priority for the third round of the following sectors:

  - Energy efficiency and renewable energies

 - Services to businesses and industrial added value
 - Information and communication technology
 - Health, drugs and cosmetics
 - Vocational training
 - Distribution and logistics
 - Urban regeneration
 - SME access to finance

The Invest in Med programme aims at developing sustainable trade relationships, investments and enterprise partnerships between the two rims of the Mediterranean. Funded at 75% by the European Union over the 2008-2011 period, it is implemented by the MedAlliance consortium, which associates economic development organisations (ANIMA, leader of the programme), CCIs (ASCAME, EUROCHAMBRES), and business federations (BUSINESSMED). The members of these networks, as well as their special partners (UNIDO, GTZ, EPA Euroméditerranée, World Bank, etc.), gather a thousand of economic actors - mobilised through pilot initiatives centered on key Mediterranean promising niches. Each year, a hundred operations associate the 27 countries of the European Union and 9 Mediterranean partner countries: Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestinian Authority, Syria and Tunisia. www.invest-in-med.eu
